Client: NCdjs
Greensboro, NC
Project Overview:
This project represents a long-term collaboration with Paul Walker, a highly successful DJ in the Greensboro area, known professionally as DJ Pdub and operating under the company name NCdjs. Over several years, I provided a comprehensive range of services, including multiple website designs, logo redesigns, print materials, video production, photography, and technical support. The most significant aspect of the project was the evolution of the NCdjs brand identity, culminating in a refined logo, a powerful new tagline (“Make the Moment”), and a consistent brand message across all platforms. The project also involved mastering DSLR photobooth software, creating custom user interfaces and print templates for events.
Challenge:
The initial challenge was to create a brand identity for NCdjs that reflected the energy and professionalism of DJ Pdub’s services. Over time, as Paul’s business matured and he himself moved beyond the “party lifestyle,” the challenge evolved. While Paul remained incredibly skilled at bringing energy and fun to events, the original tagline, “Life of the Party” (which I also initially developed), began to feel less representative of the overall scope of his services and the increasingly diverse range of events he was covering – from weddings and corporate parties to proms and even funerals. The brand needed to mature alongside the business, appealing to a broader audience while still capturing the essence of what made DJ Pdub special. Maintaining brand consistency across multiple platforms and website redesigns also presented an ongoing challenge.
Solution:
The solution was an iterative process of design, refinement, and adaptation, driven by a deep understanding of the client’s business and the evolving needs of his target audience.
Early Branding and Website Development:
Initially, I developed a logo and website for NCdjs, along with various print materials. The initial tagline, “Life of the Party,” was chosen to reflect DJ Pdub’s energetic performance style.
The “Make the Moment” Transformation: A More Mature and Customer-Centric Approach
After several years of working with Paul, and observing the changing landscape of the event industry and his own evolving business, it became clear that a more refined and customer-focused brand message was needed. While “Life of the Party” accurately described Paul’s ability to energize an event, “Make the Moment” was chosen as a broader, more resonant tagline. This new tagline shifted the focus from the DJ’s personality to the customer’s experience and the importance of creating lasting memories. It acknowledged the significant time, effort, and attention to detail that goes into planning any successful event, and positioned NCdjs as a partner in making those moments truly special.
The logo was also subtly redesigned to align with the new tagline and a more professional aesthetic. The updated logo utilizes a modern, geometric sans-serif font. The letters “N” and “C” are prominently displayed in a bold, dark grey, creating a strong visual anchor. The word “djs” is cleverly integrated within the “C,” rendered in a smaller, lowercase font and a vibrant blue accent color. A stylized, sweeping blue line underscores “djs,” adding a sense of dynamism and movement, subtly suggesting the energy of a DJ’s performance. The overall design is clean, contemporary, and easily recognizable, conveying both professionalism and a hint of excitement.

Multi-Channel Implementation:
The “Make the Moment” branding was consistently implemented across a variety of platforms:
- Website Redesign: A new website was designed to reflect the updated branding, featuring [describe the website’s key features and design elements].
- Print Materials: Business cards, flyers, and other print materials were updated with the new logo and tagline.
- Video Production: I produced video assets for use at events, incorporating the “Make the Moment” messaging.
- Photography: I provided photography services to capture the energy and excitement of NCdjs events.
- DSLR Photobooth: Learned design and operation.

Expanding Services & Technical Support:
Beyond the core branding and design work, I also provided ongoing technical support to Paul, managing his computers, software, and IT infrastructure. This “high-up tech support” ensured that his systems ran smoothly, allowing him to focus on his core business. I also expanded my skillset to include operating DSLR photobooth software, creating custom user interfaces (the screens that guests interact with at events) and designing the printed photo templates. Furthermore, I actively participated in capturing photo and video content at events, providing valuable marketing materials for NCdjs.
Results and Reflection:
The long-term collaboration with NCdjs and the evolution of the brand identity from “Life of the Party” to “Make the Moment” demonstrates the power of iterative design and the importance of aligning a brand’s message with its core values and the needs of its customers. The project also highlights the value of a strong client relationship, built on trust and open communication. The redesigned logo, website, and marketing materials, combined with the addition of photobooth services, helped to solidify NCdjs’s position as a leading provider of DJ and event services in the [Location] area. This project showcases expertise in branding, logo design, web design, print design, video production, photography, and technical support (DSLR photobooth software and IT management). It also underscores the importance of adapting and evolving one’s skills to meet the changing needs of clients.
