Rebranding Bistro 42, a ‘fine dining casual’ restaurant in Asheboro, NC, involved creating a new logo, signage, and menus with a subtle ‘geek chic’ twist. Inspired by The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, the number ’42’ became a unique brand element. The project also included innovative concepts like a View-Master dessert menu, curated tabletop games, and a ‘secret menu’ item, all designed to enhance the dining experience. Chef Luke Armitage’s acclaimed baked salmon exemplified the restaurant’s culinary quality
A long-term collaboration with DJ Pdub (NCdjs) involved multiple website designs, logo evolutions, and a strategic rebranding from ‘Life of the Party’ to ‘Make the Moment.’ This shift reflected a move towards a more customer-centric message, emphasizing the creation of memorable experiences. The project encompassed branding, web design, print materials, video production, photography, technical support, and even mastering DSLR photobooth software to expand the client’s service offerings.
I redesigned the menu for Marozzi’s Pizzeria using a data-driven approach, combining principles of menu engineering with eye-tracking technology (The Eye Tribe) to optimize item placement and visual hierarchy. The redesign resulted in a measurable increase in sales of targeted items. I also secured funding from Pepsi and Peroni in exchange for branding placement on the menu, demonstrating a strategic approach to project financing.
For Gatlyn’s Gourmet Popcorn, a small shop in Greensboro, NC, I created a complete rebrand, including logo design, packaging, and a custom-built automated system. This system used Photoshop’s variable data feature, combined with an Excel spreadsheet, to generate product mockups and print-ready labels for new popcorn flavors in just minutes. This solution drastically reduced the time and cost associated with introducing new products, empowering this small business to expand its offerings efficiently.
